Our growth includes recent acquisitions of Stessa (financial and asset management software), RentPrep (tenant screening and placement service for landlords), and Mynd (property management platform for both Retail and Institutional investors).
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle processing of U.S. multi-state payroll on a semi-monthly basis for 500 employees (draft and review payrun, funding FSA/HSA & 401K)
- Own accounting month-end close, including preparing payroll and benefits journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
- Partner closely with our internal partners (HR/Finance) to provide our employees with a first-class onboarding and payroll experience
- Answer employee questions regarding payroll and process payroll changes
- Manage tax and benefits compliance and reporting with all Federal, State, and Local payroll compliance, including tax withholding and garnishments
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, taxes ,and other deductions
- Manage relationships with external payroll providers
- Proactively prepare relevant management reports and statistics as needed
- Stay current on regulations, benefits changes, and labor laws impacting the payroll process, and stay compliant for all payroll tax jurisdiction
- Partner with HR on workers compensation and 401k plan audits
- Assisting in ad-hoc duties when required
Qualifications
- 5 years of relative experience managing multi-state payroll processing, including related accounting analysis and month-end reconciliations.
- SOX experience related to payroll and benefit process preferred
- Advanced Excel skills required (critical to success in the position)
- Strong communication skills, written/verbal, and the ability to interact with employees at all levels
- Ability to work well independently and as a team member in a time-sensitive environment a must
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification preferred
- Payroll experience in California preferred
- Advanced time management skills and the ability to work in a decentralized team is necessary
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related course of study
- Unquestionable ethics and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive data required
Location
This position is classified as HYBRID within the Greater Oakland Area, with an expectation to be in-office on Tuesdays and Thursdays weekly.
Compensation
$100,000 - $117,500 on annual base salary. The compensation range may be adjusted based on experience and location.
Pay Transparency
Our compensation reflects several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position represents the expected salary for this position. Ultimately, in determining your pay it will be based on several factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and other job related factors. Roofstock is a total compensation company; the base salary is only a part of our total compensation package.
