Roosevelt Memorial Park Cemetery is seeking a Cemetery Sales Counselor to work on a Full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with a team of dedicated professionals.
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Vice President of Cemetery Operations and the SVP of Family Service & Marketing, the Family Service Counselor is accountable for serving client families by making at-need cemetery arrangements and selling pre-need arrangements. The Cemetery Sales Counselor serves families by providing exemplary personalized service, is essential in generating revenue for the cemetery, and acts as the primary contact for families.
Essential Job Functions:

1. Responsible for meeting monthly and quarterly Pre-Need sales goals.
2. Execute sales of property, commodities, and interment services to families at the time of need.
3. Prepares for all appointments and performs all procedures with professionalism and attention to detail.
4. Effectively communicate with mortuaries and families via personal contact, telephone, and online, both in the office and/or at home, as necessary.
5. Follows through on all Contracts, Memorial Orders, customer concerns, and requests.
6. Build trust-based relationships to earn the right to ask for referrals.
7. Earn the right to gain referrals to offer protection to protect family members, family relatives, and friends by educating them on the benefits of pre-planning.
8. Promote and preserve the integrity and reputation of Roosevelt Memorial Park Cemetery and its affiliated Companies.
9. Enhance the pre-need sales program through leads generated from at-need sales and other services or events.
10. Generate add-on sales, property, commodities, and service items when applicable.
11. Develop a professional and respectful rapport with area mortuaries, memorial manufacturers, and vendors.
12. Maintain good relations with internal and external customers at Roosevelt Memorial Park Cemetery and its affiliated companies.
13. Holds self-accountable for prospecting.
14. Maintains and tracks activity levels in CRM System and Appointment Plus.
Experience and Education:
Two to five years of customer service or sales industry experience High School Diploma - Associate Degree Preferred
Special Skills:
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required.
- The physically demanding tasks are often combined with emotionally challenging situations of dealing with grieving families.
- Operate PC with excellent MS Office software skills.
- Knowledge of CRM systems and other company operating platforms, such as Zoom, DocuSign, etc. Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal relations skills and excellent customer service skills Ability to work independently and to be detail-minded
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Ability to multi-task and set priorities.
- High level of comprehension and integrity
Licenses:
Ability to obtain a Sales License from the State of Calif. Dept. of Consun1er Affairs, Cemetery & Funeral Division
Hold a current state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Carry Liability Insurance levels on Personal Vehicle ($100,000 for each person/ $300,000 for each accident)
Working Environment:
Work seated at a workstation in a carpeted, air-conditioned/heated office environment where the noise volume from equipment and coworkers is moderate and with continual interruptions. Ability to drive frequently or walk on uneven ground, slopes, or pavement. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Physical Requirements:
- Work seated or standing prolonged periods; must have the energy, stamina, and personality to meet with families.
- Able to see detail and have good hand-eye coordination to work with and manipulate data on a computer.
- Adhere to Guidance of Housekeeping and Safety.
- Walking outdoors in heat or rain on uneven ground during committal services or presenting cemetery property to families.
