The Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) at Roosevelt is comprised of three Conservatories : Music, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Theatre. Our faculty and staff maintain successful professional careers in their chosen fields alongside their commitment to training and educating our students in preparation to enter performing arts industries.
The Theatre Conservatory seeks adjunct instructors to teach beginning and intermediate level acting classes, and / or to substitute teach for these classes for faculty with professional bookings. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Successful applicants will have experience teaching scene study classes and character and script analysis, as well as a good working knowledge of contemporary and 20th century drama. Our acting training is based in Stanislavski but uses pedagogy from Michael Shurtleff, Uta Hagen, and Michael Chekhov consistently, so familiarity with those methods is a plus. Years of Experience Required 1-2 years teaching at the university level Required Education Bachelor's Degree Certification / Licensure Required Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and experience teaching acting to college-level students. Preferred Qualifications Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Acting, Theatre Performance, Directing or commensurate professional experience. Equipment Operated Studio sound system, basic office / classroom equipment and Smart-classroom equipment (computer, monitor, projector and audio equipment). Working Conditions Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and / or pulling is required (typically less than 10-15 pounds).
