No Job Type Full-Time Working Hours Position Summary Roosevelt University seeks a graduate academic advisor to work closely with our domestic and international students in masters-level programs at the College of Science, Health & Pharmacy. The graduate academic advisor will provide accurate and current curricular information on graduate programs; assist in short-term and long-term academic program planning; refer students to other support services / units on campus; help with course selection, registration, and career plans; assist in recruitment and retention efforts which progresses our students toward graduation. This position reports to the Director of Graduate and Adult Continuing Education Advising.

This is a full-time, at-will, exempt administrative position.

Some evening and weekend hours will be required.

The salary for this position is $50,000.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two (2) plus years of experience in a college or education environment working within academic advising, student services, enrollment management or student affairs.
  • Ability to understand, communicate, and effectively interact with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
  • Proven ability to perform assigned administrative duties focused on supporting our advising, recruitment, and retention efforts.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Embrace collaboration and a commitment to ensuring the team success in all tasks and projects.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt’s core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Ability to use computerized student information systems and personal computing software.
  • A positive and professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Master’s degree preferred in Psychology, Counseling, Academic Advising, Education or Higher Education Administration.
  • Professional experience working as an academic or international student advisor.
  • Familiarity with Ellucian / Banner preferred.
  • Equipment Operated Office equipment (desktop computer, office copier / multifunction device and phone). Working Conditions Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and / or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand / wrist movement and repetition. Moderate level of stress. Occasional travel within the local or regional setting may be required. Priority Application Instructions Departmental Contact Information Essential Job Functions Duty and Responsibility Serve as primary advisor for graduate students in master’s-level programs. Work with the academic departments to provide accurate, current curricular information to students and prospective students on graduate programs like computer science, health informatics & counseling.

    Work with the Registrar, Graduate Admissions, Student Services, and college departments to support the flow process of transcript evaluation, transfer credit evaluation, admission, and academic advising.

    Complete course planning and registration with new and continuing students.

    Collaborate with the Office International Programs to support international students as they adapt to American higher education, including helping them understanding processes and help finding useful resources.

    Assist in short-term and long-term academic program planning. Teach students how to read their degree audits and student education plans.

    Provide information and trainings to students, faculty, staff, and others through on campus and remote workshops, new student enrollments and orientations.

    Recommend appropriate student services and help students sustain motivation and progress to graduation.
