The Graduate Admission Counselor’s primary responsibility is to guide prospective students through the application and enrollment process, which includes meeting with prospective graduate students to assess academic eligibility, discuss academic offerings and career outcomes, and share information about Roosevelt University and the graduate student experience.This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions and will attend in-person or virtual events to recruit prospective students. Counselors also serve as an initial point of contact for post-admission processes and work closely with academic affairs, Financial Aid Services, Academic Advising, and other student support services to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities RequiredAbility to manage relationships both externally and within Roosevelt University.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multicultural environment.Ability to navigate personal and potentially difficult conversations and situations with care and tact.Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion when working with prospective students, family, and school partners.Self-starter and ability to prioritize independently.Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.A positive and professional demeanor.Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt’s core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.Experience with database systems like a CRM (Slate) to input and access individualized and general information related to recruitment and enrollment.Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Valid driver’s license and / or means to travel for recruitment.Years of Experience Required : 2Required Education : Bachelor's DegreeMinimum Qualifications : A bachelor’s degree in a related field.A minimum of 2 years of experience in higher education, recruitment, and / or admissions.Demonstrated experience working in CRM platforms. Some experience in CMS systems.Proficiency with MS Office suite of tools (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel).Valid driver’s license and / or means to travel for recruitment.Preferred Qualifications : Experience with Slate CRM.Experience in higher education, preferably in an admission, recruitment, or student affairs.Use of social media and web for student engagement.Working Conditions : Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and / or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand / wrist movement and repetition. Moderate level of stress. Occasional travel within the local or regional setting may be required.Essential Job Functions : Recruitment : Understands and promotes the programs and services offered that contribute to the value and mission of Roosevelt University.Identifies, recruits, and admits prospective graduate students in designated disciplines.Conducts outreach by email, phone, or virtually with students, parents, and school partners.Participates and / or assists with recruitment events and campus visit opportunities that may include weekend and evening hours.Counsels prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the University.Communicates requirements, expectations, opportunities, and success stories to prospective students and their families.Application Management : Manage the applicant pool for assigned programs.Utilize CRM (Slate), Enroll ML, and other performance management tools to facilitate application completion.Thoroughly review prospective student credentials in making admission decisions using guidelines provided by academic affairs.Guides students through the enrollment process, from inquiry or application through matriculation.Provides guidance and pre-advising to prospective students to determine admissibility, appropriate program, location, and resources.Informs students of the various offerings and opportunities available while considering students’ abilities and needs to be successful. In some cases, one may need to suggest other opportunities aside from selecting Roosevelt University if the decision is not beneficial to the student.Assists students with accessing and understanding general post-admission information and processes like financial aid, residence life, advising, and student support services.Travel : Plans and arranges all phases of local or regional (where applicable) travel.Travels to local or regional high schools, community colleges, or other sites for recruitment events.Participates in off-campus events, visit opportunities, or meetings to engage with prospective students, families, and other partners.Collects and enters prospective student contact information for the CRM system.Posting Specific Questions Required fields are indicated with an asterisk (
