What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Receptionist position at Root Therapy and Wellness?
Are you someone who loves working with children and families? Do you have a warm and welcoming personality that can help brighten a child’s day? We are looking for a Front Desk Receptionist who can create a welcoming experience for our patients, enabling us to provide Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy services for kids of all ages.
At Root Pediatrics, we help children grow, heal, and thrive — and that starts the moment they walk through our doors. As the first face families see, you’ll play a vital role in making every visit a positive and comforting experience. Our clinic is growing, and we’re searching for someone who is friendly, proactive, and ready to make a lasting impact on the lives of the children and families we serve.
Why You'll Love This Role
- You’ll build meaningful relationships with children and families, becoming a trusted part of their care journey.
- You’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative team who are passionate about helping kids reach their full potential.
- You’ll enjoy a healthy work-life balance and a positive, professional environment where your contributions matter.
- You'll have opportunities for growth and development as our practice continues to expand.
What You’ll Do
- Greet every child and family with kindness and a warm smile, helping them feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for.
- Manage scheduling, appointment changes, and cancellations with sensitivity to families' busy lives.
- Answer phones, respond to questions, and direct calls to the appropriate team member.
- Assist families with insurance verification and help them understand coverage, following an established process.
- Keep the front desk and reception area organized and kid-friendly.
- Proactively anticipate the needs of both patients and therapists, solving small problems before they become big ones.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, collect co-pays, and maintain accurate records.
- Pitch in with additional tasks that help the clinic run smoothly and create a positive experience for all.
What We’re Looking For
- A natural people-person who enjoys working with children and families.
- Strong communication skills with a friendly, professional, and patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work independently, show initiative, and solve problems with creativity.
- Detail-oriented and organized, able to juggle multiple tasks with a calm demeanor.
- Prior experience in a medical, childcare, or customer service setting is a plus — but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are most important.
- Basic computer skills (we’ll train you on our scheduling system).
- Reliable, punctual, and dedicated to making a difference.
