Position Summary :
The Communications Coordinator must be committed to the mission, vision, and services of Roots and be able to communicate these in written, verbal, and visual format. They create visual concepts to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate potential supporters, stakeholders, funders and collaborative partners. This includes advertisements, brochures, magazines, and reports. This position ensures consistency and accuracy of messaging that will broaden the organization’s reach with the overarching goal of elevating the profile and broadening the impact of Roots’ work.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develop public relations campaigns and media relations strategies.
- Build and execute a social media strategy reflecting our policy advocacy platform, generating, editing, and publishing, and sharing content (original text, images, video, etc.) that builds meaningful connections and inspires community members to take action; moderate user-generated content as needed.
- Support the design and production of all major publications, including Roots newsletters, brochures, flyers, etc. to promote Roots’ fund development goals as well as programs and services.
- Create and manage an “in-reach” plan, and produce associated communications materials, as needed to educate clients / patients about our services, new programs, and community resources.
- Help with funding opportunities; ensure a state of readiness to respond to funding opportunities by maintaining Roots database of proposal materials (language, documents, etc.)
- Facilitate effective storytelling.
- Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data / metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information.
- Contribute and update to content on Roots’ websites.
- Participate in the creation of an annual report.
- Attend / watch relevant City Council, Board of Supervisor, other legislative meetings as needed, and report back to Executive Leadership as appropriate.
- Collect relevant data from leadership to inform report / presentation production.
- Support development of grant proposals by contributing content in areas of subject matter expertise / involvement.
- Participate in staff meetings, supervision, agency meetings, and staff training.
