Who we need
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Fund Accountant to join our Fund Accounting Group. This role is key in managing financial reporting and accounting for investment companies, funds, and joint ventures, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare and review GAAP/IFRS financial statements and investor capital statements in accordance with LPAs, PPMs, and side letters
- Perform detailed reviews on trial balances and supporting schedules tied to reporting packages
- Manage the third-party fund administrator
- Coordinate to obtain GAAP fair values and financial disclosure inputs from third-party valuation experts and internal valuation team
- Prepare fund and investor performance metrics
- Cash sources and uses - Prepare cash flow projections for funds and their underlying portfolio companies
- Assist in accurate property level reporting comprising of real estate assets alongside property accounting, portfolio management, and capital markets
- Consider financial reporting implications of acquisitions, dispositions, debt financing, and capex investments
- Calculate and review management fees, carried interest waterfalls, capital calls, and distributions
- Assist in cash transfers for the fund and its underlying property investments with treasury and relevant departments
- Understand and manage investor goals and expectations; serve as their internal advocate.
- Collaborate with various divisions to ensure accurate reporting
Ancillary Responsibilities
- Assist legal team with regulatory filings, identify/escalate risks, and adhere to compliance requirements
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers; effectively manage their timelines
- Assist in automating accounting processes and integrating new software applications
Education / Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- 2 years of relevant accounting experience
- Expertise in Microsoft Office, specifically in Excel with functions like VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, INDEX(MATCH), and SUMIF
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a willingness to learn
- Ability to take initiative and add value to the team
- Concise and effective communication skills to collaborate with internal and external parties to meet deadlines and resolve issues
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and thoroughness
- Team player, self-motivated and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships
- Ability to prioritize and manage time to consistently meet deadlines
Preferred
- CPA or CPA Candidate (Preferred)
- Prior experience in fund accounting
- Experienced in financial reporting platforms – Investran
- Proficient in financial analysis and ability to review real estate business models
