Job Title: Buyer
Shift Timing: First Shift
Location: Simi Valley CA 93063
Duration :- 6 Months Contract(with possible Extension)
Job Summary:
The Buyer applies expertise across a range of purchasing activities, including pricing, negotiating with suppliers, and securing the best value for high-quality goods and services. This role involves complex purchasing tasks while ensuring adherence to government laws, regulations, and management objectives.
Core Responsibilities:
• Perform complex purchasing activities such as pricing, negotiating volume discounts, contract terms, and the delivery of goods/services.
• Negotiate the best terms (price, delivery, and payment) with suppliers to ensure high-quality products at the best value, while efficiently processing purchase orders.
• Establish source selection criteria for evaluating quotations, including target pricing.
• Evaluate quotations from potential suppliers and decide on awarding purchase orders.
• Implement formal and legal contractual documentation into purchase orders, ensuring compliance with corporate and government requirements.
• Resolve discrepancies between purchase order requirements and supplier performance.
• Ensure compliance with government laws, regulations, and procurement policies and procedures.
• Identify issues, initiate corrective actions, and establish problem resolution timelines.
• Maintain current and accurate data in the purchasing system (e.g., delivery dates, pricing, change orders).
• Perform other assigned responsibilities as needed.
• Consistently exercise independent judgment and discretion in significant matters.
• Ensure regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. May require working nights, weekends, and additional hours as necessary.
Job Specifications:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree required.
Experience:
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in procurement.
Skills and Expertise:
• Strong knowledge of procurement principles and practices in aerospace/manufacturing environments.
• Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role.
• Ability to write specifications, prepare bid documents, manage the bidding process, and analyze bid results.
• Strong track record of successful negotiations, especially with license contracts.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, utilizing judgment based on multiple data sources.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to drive tasks to completion.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
• Familiarity with production planning and demand forecasting.
• Experience using procurement software, such as SAP.
