Job Details
Job Summary : Cardiovascular OR
Serve as first assistant to Vascular Surgeon(s) during surgery.
Ensure the availability and functioning of surgical equipment used in surgical procedures.
Transport patient to and from operating room, preps patient prior to surgery, serves as first or second assistant to the surgeon during the surgical procedure.
Job Requirements
Clinical experience as a surgical assistant preferred
Certified surgical assistant
Certified surgical technologist
Clinical licensures as appropriate with the above Education
Current certification by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist as a first assistant or the National Surgical Assistant Association on the Certification of Surgical Assistants or any entity approved by the National Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)
Surgical Technologist must also hold a Surgical Technologist certification
Schedule Information
May be required to take call and / or work weekends / holidays based on the needs of the department.

Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and / or other conditions common to a healthcare environment

Extensive knowledge of the clinical aspects of surgery.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Skilled in preparing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and co-workers.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Knowledgeable in basic patient care.
Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of care to provide on-going patient care.
Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.
Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports.
Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking.
