Job Details
Job Summary : To provide safe care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with professional and hospital standards.
Assists in the coordination of patient care : Assists registered nurse in planning patient care. Collaborates with other health team members. Participates in performance improvement activities.
Implements patient care : Creates and maintains asepsis. Performs scrubbing duties. Communicates patient information to the appropriate persons.
Interpersonal skills : Communicates with peers, other health team members, patients, visitors. Maintains adaptability. Supports teamwork within the department and units.
Clinical preceptor : Performs clinical preceptor role for scrubbing and follows orientation outline, collaborating with the patient care coordinator, educator / Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Care of environment and equipment : Maintains cleanliness in unit. Maintains and cleans equipment.
Job Requirements
Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to provide patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule Information
May be required to take call and / or work weekends / holidays based on the needs of the department.
Unit Specific Information
Maintains and cleans equipment. Held responsible for the equipment use and care in which is used during the surgical case.
Additional Details
Frequent standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, crouching, stooping.
Frequent lifting / moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying up to 50 lbs.
Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and / or other conditions common to a healthcare environment.
