What are the responsibilities and job description for the AVP IPN and CAO MPH position at Roper St. Francis Healthcare?
The Associate Vice President (AVP), Integrated Practice Network (IPN) (service line) & Hospital Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is responsible for leadership of a designated system service line IPN in additional to a hospital. The IPN role focuses on the over-arching strategy, growth, system operations and efficiencies across the service line for the system. It also includes operational oversight in a dyad relationship with the Physician IPN leader. The CAO role directs and manages the daily operations, patient/customer experience, teammate engagement, profitability, and clinical outcomes within his/her assigned hospital(s) in a matrix management relationship with the Sr. leadership team, hospital Chief Nursing Officer and hospital Chief Medical Officer to achieve outcomes aligned to strategy. The AVP IPN/CAO facilitates the planning, organization, implementation, and control of the resources needed for optimal performance of the assigned operational areas in coordination with the various physicians, clinicians and other support teammates. The AVP IPN/CAO works with the System Leadership to set operational performance goals and objectives and develops and executes plans to ensure that said goals and objectives are achieved.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education required:
- External candidates - master's degree in business administration, public health, nursing, health administration or related fields.
- Internal candidates - if candidate only has a bachelor's degree, the candidate must enroll in a master's program within one year of hire and complete the program within 5 years of hire.
Experience required: Five (5) years of comprehensive hospital operations experience (preferably clinical and non-clinical operations experience) in a medium or large healthcare system with at least two (2) years in a senior hospital operations role.

Knowledge/Skills: Leadership competencies including daily operations management, managing physician and teammate relationships, strategic planning, financial planning and analysis, reimbursement, contract negotiations, construction planning, problem solving, quality metrics/outcomes, Lean Six Sigma/High Reliability, Just Culture, performance improvement, and human resource development and planning.
Other: Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions; analyze data (clinical, financial, and marketing), identify trends, and apply data to decision-making processes. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing; actively participate and contribute at all levels of the organization, when necessary. At a minimum, possesses a working understanding of the clinical care of specialized services within the service lines. Fluent in system-wide PC applications Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
