Work Shift : Four10-hour days with rotating 3-day weekend OR Five Monday - Friday, 8-hour days Mon-Fri On Call Requirements (typically every 5th weekend, Saturday / Sunday, 7 : 00am - 4 : 00pm)
Work Location : West Ashley Cancer Center with some possible minimum floating to other department locations including BSSF Hospital (same campus), Berkeley Hospital (Summerville), Berkeley Hospital (Summerville), and Mount Pleasant Hospital.
Preferred Experience : Fully trained in PET with recent experience
Summary of Primary Function / General Purpose of Position
The Nuclear Medicine Tech is committed to applying the skills and art of nuclear medicine imaging through safe and effective use of radiopharmaceuticals and nuclear medicine equipment.
Essential Job Functions
- Administers radionuclide therapy.
- Prepares, performs QC and dispenses radiopharmaceuticals for off hour procedures.
- Performs urgent Nuclear Medicine procedures in an on-call status or in a single technologist staffing model
- Checks the order for complete information and proper exam and schedules exams as needed.
- Obtains sufficient information to determine whether the exam should be performed immediately or within a specific time frame.
- Determines if additional technical support is required and follows the proper procedure for obtaining support.
- Adheres to established section and organizational protocols, QA guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Interacts appropriately with patients and all care providers.

Licensing / Certification
Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) (required)
State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
Education
Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)
Work Experience
1 year of experience practicing ET / Nuclear Medicine experience (preferred)
