Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Position Summary:

Direct Support Professionals play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling and independent lives. In this role, you will provide person-centered care and assistance to individuals in a variety of settings, including homes, community settings, and day programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide Direct Care:

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as personal care, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding.
• Administer medications as prescribed and documented.
• Implement behavior support plans and positive behavioral interventions.

Community Integration:

• Accompany individuals on outings and community activities, such as shopping, recreational events, and appointments.
• Assist with transportation and ensure safe travel.
• Promote social interaction and community participation.

Health and Safety

• Monitor individuals' health and well-being, reporting any concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Implement emergency procedures as needed.
• Ensure the safety and security of individuals at all times.

Documentation:

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all services provided, including daily logs, incident reports, and progress notes.
• Utilize electronic health records systems as required.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and other members of the care team.
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and staff trainings.
• Build positive and respectful relationships with individuals and their families.

Other Duties Assigned:

• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, which may include but are not limited to: household chores, light housekeeping, and administrative tasks.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
