Position Summary
This is a Research Assistant Professor position for research in the Center for Neurobiology of Stress Resilience and Psychiatric Disorders. This scientist will play an important role in ongoing funded research projects that aim to uncover the neurobiology of social and affective behavior in rodents, and develop their own fundable line of research

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Laboratory scientific research, including formulating scientific questions, planning, implementing, analyzing and interpreting data.
- Initiation and completion of required research projects with a high degree of independence.
- Development of a line of research that has likelihood of external grant support.
- Apply to external agencies for funding of research.
- Communication of scientific data to lab and scientific community.
- Engaging with other scientists and trainees to implement collaborative projects.
- Use electrophysiological, behavioral, surgical techniques in rodents, and other techniques if needed.
- Provide help to other lab members and collaborators as needed.
- Provide straining and supervision of other researchers in collaboration with the lab PI.
- Contribute to departmental non-research mission as needed.

Required Education & Experience
- PhD in Neuroscience or related field
- Substantial experience with in vitro electrophysiology
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of basic cellular neurophysiology.
- Expertise with designing and implementing whole cell electrophysiology experiments.
- Ability to independently trouble-shoot and acquire high quality electrophysiology data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with survival surgery
