What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lower School ESE/Resource Teacher position at Rosarian Academy?
Job Description: Rosarian Academy is seeking a full-time resource teacher for grades one through four. An ideal candidate would possess an ESE certification and/or extensive experience working with students with diagnosed learning differences. The ESE teacher is expected to plan, organize and implement appropriate instructional programs in the lower school that guide and encourage ACE students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The mission of the ACE program at Rosarian Academy is to ensure that students with learning differences receive appropriate educational services, leading to increased student achievement and successful post-school outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follows school mission, procedures, and policies in administrative and educational matters as set forth by the Head of School and the Board of Directors.
- Leads students in prayer and nurtures them to develop a Christian-based character based on Rosarian Academy’s Mission and Belief Statements.
- Develops and implements individualized academic programs by performing formal and informal assessments of academic achievement, social-emotional development, and vocational skills according to governmental and organizational guidelines.
- Prepares materials, individualized lesson plans, and activities according to assessment goals.
- Demonstrates knowledge of effective instructional techniques by using a wide variety of materials and mediums of delivery.
- Demonstrates knowledge of IEP (as relevant) and treatment planning processes by reviewing referral and assessment data to obtain each student's history, issues, and disabilities.
- Prepares and conducts learning support meetings, provides current, specific data to relevant parties, and creates appropriate goals and objectives by developing and employing strategies and interventions, by monitoring and evaluating student progress, and by sharing information appropriately.
- Manages the classroom to maintain a safe, secure, and effective learning environment by providing a high degree of structure, clear expectations, and consistency.
- Implements expectations and consequences as appropriate for each student as outlined in the school’s Parent/Student Handbook.
- Projects a positive image for students and colleagues by participating as a team member, cooperating with staff, demonstrating compromise and appropriate expression of opinions, attending staff meetings as required, and actively participating in other school-related activities/functions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student records per program guidelines.
- Arrives at the school at 7:30 AM and remains until 3:30 PM, reserving Wednesday afternoons for required faculty meetings.
- Fulfills other related duties as assigned by Administration.
Minimal Education Requirements/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field; advanced degree preferred
- Current and valid Florida State Teaching Certificate applicable to the subject/grades being taught, or be working toward said certification
- Valid ESE certification preferred
- Documented classroom experience with Special Education students
- Demonstrated skills in working with students with diverse learning needs
- Completion of Diocese of Palm Beach VIRTUS Training
- Ability to communicate effectively and positively with parents, students, administration, and a variety of people and personality styles
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position must perform in carrying out the essential functions of the position.
Physical Demands: Walk, look downward, turn neck, sit, bend, stand, stoop, squat, reach, push, and pull. Climb (infrequently), grasp and manipulate materials and supplies, lift and carry items up to twenty(20) pounds, and use sight, hearing, and speaking.
Working Conditions: Indoor classrooms, exposure to: students noise and music, odors of food and science projects, possible communicable diseases or unruly students. Outdoor schoolyard and playgrounds, exposure to temperatures, dust, rains and wind, and pesticides.
