Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise, train, and motivate tasting room staff to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Schedule staff effectively to ensure adequate coverage during peak times.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and morale.
- Schedule staffing for the store, keeping functionality, profitability, and seasonality in mind.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings with clear expectations for each employee prior to their shift.
- Guest Experience:
- Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere in the tasting room.
- Conduct tastings and provide guests with detailed information about wines, varietals, and winemaking techniques.
- Anticipate and address guest needs and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Maintain an exquisite storefront and curb appeal that is seasonal and inviting for guests.
- Operations Management:
- Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory management.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the tasting room, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the winemaking and marketing teams to ensure alignment with brand messaging and promotions.
- Ideate new menu items and ensure store profitability.
- Prepare profitability reports on all menu items and products.
- Process online orders.
- Sales and Upselling:
- Drive sales by effectively promoting food, merchandise, and wine purchases.
- Train staff on sales techniques and upselling strategies to maximize revenue opportunities.
- Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Event Coordination:
- Plan and execute special events, tastings, and private tastings/tours as needed.
- Promote events through various channels to attract attendees and drive revenue.
- Wine Education:
- Stay informed about current wine industry trends, products, and competitors.
- Continuously educate yourself and staff about the winery's offerings, production processes, and unique selling points.
- Conduct staff training sessions to enhance product knowledge and sales skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, or experience in a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the hospitality or wine industry.
- Strong knowledge of wine varietals, wine production, and wine service techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve sales and service goals.
- Proficiency in POS systems, MS Office Suite, and other relevant software.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
