What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing/Insurance Administrator position at Rose Hill Chiropractic Clinic?
Busy Chiropractic Clinic is searching for a full-time Billing/Insurance Administrator.
Candidate will work closely with Doctor to insure all facets of the job are fully completed.
- Check eligibility and benefits verification for treatments and procedures.
- Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information.
- Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
- Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe.
- Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.
- Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
- Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurance.
- Review accounts for insurance of patient follow-up.
- Research and appeal denied claims.
- Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
- Set up patient payment plans and work collection accounts.
- Update cash spreadsheets, run collection reports, knowledge of Excel is required.

- Knowledge of business and accounting processes and practices.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a medical office setting.
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, BCBS, Aetna, United Healthcare and other payer requirements and systems.
- Competent use of computer systems, software, and 10 key calculators.
- Ability to multitask.
- Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 Coding.
- Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with insurance payers to resolve issues.
- Customer service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments, including communicating with patients and family members of diverse ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to work well in a team environment. Being able to prioritize, delegate tasks if needed, and reasonably handle conflict.
- Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, and collections calmly and patiently in working with patients or insurers during this process.
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology likely to be encountered in medical claims.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
