Job Opportunity: Funeral Services Director

Position Summary: This position is responsible for directing all funeral services, visitations, and graveside services. Candidate will be responsible for coordinating all service details to ensure service excellence is met with every family served at Rose Hills.

Essential Job Functions:

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

• Directs the family to establish positive memories by helping to ensure a

compassionate and caring funeral service is provided at Rose Hills

• Set up chapel for funeral services
• Direct visitations, graveside services, and funeral services
• Delegates duties to service team in a courteous and professional manner
• Coordinate service details with the family, clergy, and any third party provider
• Drive company vehicles inclusive of a sedan, van, coach, limo, and/or flatbed
• Lead funeral processions onsite and offsite
• Assist with audio/visual media used during services
• Perform decedent identification and transportation to and from services
• Assist with flower log maintenance and ensure description cards are labeled

correctly and flowers are set up accordingly

• Maintain chapel/vehicle cleanliness and report concerns to management
• Mentor and support fellow associates
• Daily computer entry of service notes into our HMIS system
• Assist with community events

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adhere to safety rules and regulations and report unsafe practices to management.
• Participate in training and skill development opportunities to improve competency

and customer service.

• Use effective communication to convey information to fellow associates, other

departments and management team.

• Abide by the Company dress code and any department requests regarding work

attire.

• Adhere to company attendance policy.
• Candidate will perform and execute all tasks and directives as assigned from

supervision and/or management.

Candidate will be required to work onsite

Experience & Education:

• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Funeral Director and/ Funeral Service Profession experience
• Stable employment history
• High School Diploma or GED

Qualifications:

• Must exhibit good written and oral communication as well as interpersonal skills
• Must be willing to wear a radio/ radio and ear piece for consistent communication

during your scheduled shift

• Must be able to follow directions
• Must possess problem solving skills, detail oriented and display a high level of

integrity

• Punctuality and sense of urgency to serve families daily
• Self-motivated and flexible
• Warmth, compassion, and empathy
• Ability to work positively with other people
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and differentiate level of importance
• Ability to work in a highly emotional environment
• Knowledge of audio/visual media a plus
• Bi-Lingual a plus
• Ability to train others
• Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
• Must be able to stand for long durations of time
• Must be able to pass a lift test with the ability to frequently lift a minimum of 50

lbs. and occasionally lift 100 lbs. (pre-employment physical and lifting test

required) and work with and around human remains

• Must possess a valid California Driver’s License reflecting a good driving record

Pay: $20.50 - $25.50 per hour

Experience:

• Funeral directing: 1 year (Preferred)
• Customer service: 2 years (Required)
• Mortuary or cemetery: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Required)
