Mail and Bookstore Specialist
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has an opening in the Department of Administrative Services for a Mail and Bookstore Specialist. We have been ranked No. 1 among U.S. engineering colleges by the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Guide for the last 26 consecutive years.
As the Mail and Bookstore Specialist, you will be responsible for receiving and signing carrier forms at the acceptance location for all incoming packages, utilizing the Mail Locker System to distribute student mail daily; assist in the coordination of employee mail; assist with customer service at the window locations to answer questions about student mail; provide customer support for mail package retrieval and/or concerns regarding packages; support organizing and documenting processes; send late notices for packages left unclaimed.
The Mail and Bookstore Specialist will retrieve data daily on mail volume, Business Reply, and Postage Due; entering and tracking data into spreadsheets; prepare forwarding mail for pick up by U.S. Postal Service; maintain forwarding mail data in the distribution database; insure working order and cleaning of Mail Lockers and workspaces.
Additionally, the Mail and Bookstore Specialist supports the Bookstore Manager with cashiering via bookstore systems; assists with refunds, stocking, receiving, shipping, returns, pricing merchandise, displays, website maintenance, processing orders, customer correspondence, and annual physical inventory. You will also be responsible for bookkeeping and accounting functions, including daily deposits from point of sale and online store.
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). A minimum of one to two years’ experience in a business or customer service-related field is required. Must have ability to plan assigned work and meet crucial deadlines.
Preferred candidates will have three to five years’ experience in a business or customer service-related field preferred. Experience in using a variety of equipment (e.g., Pitney Bowes) used in processing mail and packages is desired. Basic knowledge of USPS, UPS, and FEDEX postal regulations and package tracking systems is preferred.

Salary range is $30,500 – $35,500. Salary is competitive. A higher salary may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
