Residence Life Assistant Director
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has an opening in Student Affairs as a Residence Life Assistant Director. We have been ranked No. 1 among U.S. engineering colleges by the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Guide for the last 26 consecutive years.
The Residence Life Assistant Director will manage the Sophomore Advisor program; participate in on-campus duty coverage; respond to emergency and crisis situations; with Student Affairs Leadership, act as primary decision maker when responding to concerns/emergency incidents in the residence halls; assist BIT/Rose Cares team and serve as a representative on the Emergency Management Team.
The Residence Life Assistant Director will serve as the co-advisor for the Residence Hall Association; direct the Student Affairs component of the summer programs Project SELECT and RosePower; serve as the Junior class advisor; teach one section of RHIT100 class during fall quarter; carry out administrative student supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the institute’s policies and applicable laws; provide daily verbal and written communication to the unit and department staff.
Additionally, the Residence Life Assistant Director will collaborate with the Director regarding the strategic direction of Residence Life; develop, implement, and coordinate various programs for the department; complete reports and maintain statistic and historical data and records related to Housing and Residence Life; serve on various groups and Institute committees and represent the Director and Residence Life department at various meetings/functions.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in student affairs or related field and two to three years of experience working with higher education student activities. Demonstrated understanding of student development theory, concepts, practices, and procedures are essential. Must have effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community. Must be able to prepare training workshops; effectively present information to faculty, staff, students or outside constituents. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint is necessary.
Preferred candidates will have a master's degree in student affairs or related field and three years of experience in a higher education student affairs role. Experience with crisis management is desirable.

Salary Range is $45,250-$56,250. Salary is competitive. A higher salary may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
