Job Title: Health & Safety Specialist
A critical role has become available at the LGES – HONDA Joint Venture, located in Jeffersonville, Ohio. We are a leading manufacturer of large lithium-ion polymer batteries and packs for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate workplace compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Serve as an expert resource to teams for consistent implementation of LH Battery.
- Main contact for Health and Safety (HS) to assist assigned department(s) in achieving HS goals and objectives.
Responsibilities Include:
- Hazard identification and mitigation for plant operations and administrative offices.
- Daily line walks to ensure HS practices are being observed and note any at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non-compliance with any HS related policies/regulations.
- Timely communication of safety issues/concerns to department leadership.
- Complex safety compliance activity including Critical communication cross verifications and implementation of strategic safety projects and initiatives.
- Detailed presentation and reporting of safety activities and results including complex data analysis and trending.
- Proactive cycling of P-D-C-A (Plan, Do, Check, Act) safety compliance programs to reduce injuries and hazards and ensure continuous improvement of safety characteristics of assigned areas.
- New equipment reviews, mechanical risk assessments, and ergonomic risk assessments.
- New hire orientation, contractor safety, and other HS related training topics.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or related field or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2-4 years of safety experience.
- Detailed understanding of major health and safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI).
- Advanced data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Expertise with root cause analysis and implementation of countermeasures.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products.
- Strong planning and prioritization skills.
