POSITION: Coordinator, Desktop Support
Description of Duties: Coordinate the installation of new computer and data communications equipment. Ensure the maintenance of currently installed computer equipment. Coordinate the installation of low voltage wiring for the network, computers, network equipment, printers and other communications equipment. Identify, evaluate and recommend the purchase of diagnostic software and tools for the support of computers and software utilized on Campus. Maintain a current inventory of hardware and supplies purchased and/or supported by Information Technology Services. Effectively supervise and train Desktop Support and Audio-Visual employees. Evaluate the productivity and performance of Desktop Support and Audio-Visual staff. Work effectively with the Networking team and follow directives given regarding procedures and protocol involving Active Directory, established PC and Printer naming conventions, and established ticket workflow. Implement practices and lead Desktop Support and Audio-Visual staff to successfully execute IT’s annual strategic plan with limited oversight. Organize and maintain the Susan Loveless Center hardware depot regarding parts and equipment stocking and removal of surplus equipment. Direct the daily activities of the Desktop Support and Audio-Visual teams to maintain productivity and efficiency regarding assigned work tickets and scheduled projects. Tactfully resolve complex requirements or contentious matters from hardware or audio-visual customers with friendly solution-based service and know when to elevate matters to the Senior Director. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (or enrolled and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree). Two years’ experience supervising computer support staff. Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task, adhere to strict deadlines and be attentive to detail. Ability to display the highest degree of professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Moderate lifting up to 35 lbs and moderate carrying up to 35 lbs required. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping.
Desired Qualifications: Master’s Degree and three years’ experience supervising computer support staff.
