Job Overview
To provide efficient and quality work, excellent customer service and physician and practice support through a variety of office and clinic duties. Responsibilities include, triaging patients and other direct patient care, appointment scheduling and registration, review of encounter forms for compliancy and accuracy, medical records, filing and other duties as assigned. Work to meet patient care needs, including social determinants of health and care coordination, while creating an unmatched patient experience. An understanding of integrated care coordination, the role of community health workers, and social determinants of health is essential.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out procedures.
- Schedule appointments and manage the calendar for healthcare providers.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services, appointments, and patient information.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with confidentiality regulations.
- Process patient information, including insurance verification and billing inquiries.
- Collaborate with medical staff to facilitate efficient patient flow within the office.
- Provide support for administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and managing office supplies.
- Educate patients on office policies, procedures, and services offered.
Requirements
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Medical Assistant Certification required
· 1-2 years in a medical setting or equivalent
· 2-3 years of customer service experience in a high volume, multiple task, high stress environment
· Bilingual skills in Spanish required
· Experience handling difficult callers, customers and patients
· Basic knowledge of managed care and commercial insurance
· Basic knowledge of medical terminology, billing and coding practices
· Excellent communication and customer service skills
· Comprehensive ability to conceptualize and follow office policies and procedures
· Able to function in a high-volume, multiple task environment producing quality work
· Strong interpersonal and telephone communication skills
· Mature, motivated, decisive and flexible
