Are you a passionate and dedicated educator looking to make a difference in the lives of young children? Join our dynamic team as a Full-Time Floating Teacher at our Gorham location! This unique position offers the opportunity to work across multiple classrooms each day, supporting lead teachers in creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support:

  • Assist lead teachers with daily classroom operations to ensure a smooth, engaging, and safe learning environment.
  • Help prepare and organize materials and resources for developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
  • Support the implementation of curriculum that fosters cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain a welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere for all students.
  • Document student progress, behavior, and key observations accurately.
  • Provide regular, detailed updates to parents through Procare.

Student Interaction:

  • Engage with children in educational activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Provide individualized support and facilitate small-group interactions.
  • Foster trust and positive relationships with each child.
  • Encourage respect for school materials, the learning environment, and peers.

Behavior Management:

  • Reinforce positive behavior and classroom expectations to maintain a well-managed learning space.
  • Assist in resolving minor conflicts and promoting problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Communicate effectively with lead teachers and parents regarding student behavior and progress.
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating positive communication, empathy, and respectful interactions.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment in compliance with childcare regulations and state licensing requirements.
  • Supervise students on the playground and in the classroom, maintaining proper student-teacher ratios.
  • Keep the classroom clean and organized to support effective learning.
  • Hold current CPR and First Aid certifications (or be willing to obtain them).

Communication:

  • Collaborate with lead teachers to plan and implement effective teaching strategies and activities.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, providing regular updates on their child's development, achievements, and any concerns.
  • Use clear, age-appropriate language when interacting with students to encourage understanding and engagement.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues to support the overall development of students and maintain a positive team environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and share insights with colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma; Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
