Position Summary:
The Director of Operations for Medical Simulation will support the Assistant Dean for Medical Simulation in collaborating with RUCOM leadership, foundational science and clinical science teams, and clerkship directors to develop, integrate, and implement the simulation activities required for the success of the clinical skills components of the medical education curriculum.
This role will assist in implementation of innovative clinical skills, simulation, and assessment while applying best practices and the most up-to-date techniques. The Director of Operations will serve as key support for the administration of the Medical Simulation Center and will assist in oversight of the planning, development, and operations of the RUCOM medical simulation center.
Essential Functions:
- Participate in the planning and execution of plans for the simulation center for the College of Medicine, including planning for multiple modalities of simulation training (e.g., standardized patients, task trainers, immersive simulation, AR, VR), space needs, and personnel needs.
- Assist in development and management of budgets for simulation equipment and personnel.
- Sustain relationships with vendors following Roseman University policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively to assist in development of a horizontally and vertically integrated clinical skills curriculum that includes small, medium and large group format, classroom, simulation, and clinical setting-based educational experiences.
- Assist in the delivery an integrated clinical skills curriculum to undergraduate medical students, fostering a positive, inclusive, academic, and innovative learning environment for all students.
- Execute and maintain both formative and summative assessments.
- Aid leadership and faculty teams to define and develop high-stakes summative and formative Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) experiences for medical students.
- Develop, manage, and evaluate the standardized patient program.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent experience in medical simulation operations, development and management.
- 5 year’s experience in healthcare simulation with at least 2 years in supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience in medical education including curriculum development and delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in complex interdisciplinary and interprofessional settings.
