Position Summary:
The Philanthropy Data Analyst I, Philanthropy & Alumni Relations plays a vital role in supporting the university’s philanthropic efforts through data-driven insights, prospect research, and donor analytics. This position focuses on data management, reporting, and analysis to enhance alumni engagement, donor stewardship, and fundraising initiatives.
The Philanthropy Data Analyst I will assist in maintaining donor data integrity, generating reports, and supporting prospect identification efforts to ensure alignment with institutional priorities. This role requires strong analytical skills, experience with CRM platforms, and the ability to interpret complex datasets to provide valuable insights for strategic decision-making.
Working closely with the Senior Director of Philanthropy & Alumni Relations, this position will collaborate with internal stakeholders to refine data collection processes, enhance donor segmentation strategies, and develop reporting tools to support the unit’s goals.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain and manage donor and prospect data within Raiser’s Edge and other CRM platforms, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and data integrity.
- Develop and generate standard and ad hoc reports on donor trends, engagement metrics, and giving patterns to support strategic decision-making.
- Utilize data visualization tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar software) to create dashboards that provide actionable insights.
- Analyze alumni and donor engagement data to support targeted outreach and fundraising strategies.
- Work with leadership to identify data-driven opportunities for donor engagement and retention.
- Conduct in-depth research on individuals, corporations, and foundations to assess giving capacity, philanthropic interests, and engagement potential.
- Perform high-level wealth analysis on prospects and donors using both confidential and publicly available data to assess donor viability and maximize fundraising impact.
- Conduct wealth screening, capacity analysis, and predictive modeling to guide donor cultivation strategies.
- Interpret biographical, professional, and complex financial information to support prospect identification and cultivation strategies.
- Analyze donor trends, pipeline development, and prospect movement, generating reports to support fundraising strategies.
- Ensure data hygiene and maintenance within Raiser’s Edge and other CRM platforms, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and data integrity.
- Track and report on key team performance indicators (KPIs), including donor engagement, pipeline growth, and alumni participation to support fundraising goals.
- Assist in the development of data visualizations, dashboards, and reports using tools like Excel, Tableau, and Power BI to measure and optimize fundraising effectiveness.
- Support data segmentation strategies to enhance targeted donor outreach and stewardship initiatives.
- Collaborate with leadership to refine prospect research methodologies, improving efficiency and effectiveness of donor identification processes.
- Implement technology solutions for donor tracking, prospect segmentation, and fundraising analytics to enhance strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with fundraising teams to develop and refine targeted donor engagement strategies based on prospect research and data insights.
- Support donor stewardship initiatives by providing actionable research and recommendations for cultivation and solicitation efforts.
- Ensure the highest quality of prospect intelligence, providing quality assurance, research guidance, and strategic insights in a timely manner.
- Prepare and present comprehensive reports summarizing donor insights, engagement opportunities, and prospect pipeline performance.
- Maintain and track individual fundraising KPIs, such as donor engagement benchmarks, pipeline development targets, and contribution objectives, ensuring accountability in meeting performance goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of progressively more in-depth experience in prospect research, development, fundraising, market research and /or relevant experience.
- Proficiency with Windows environment and standard Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent analytical and data hygiene skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and derive actionable insights, including strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Familiarity with wealth screening and predictive modeling techniques (preferred).
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for event-related activities.
