Full Job Description
At Rosemary & Rye, our On-site Catering Lead plays an integral role in the overall success of our events. This position is responsible for the set-up, service, and breakdown of all food and beverage aspects of an event. This includes coordinating with our on-site chefs, managing banquet staff, communicating with planner(s), and addressing any concerns/complaints as they arise.
Due to the fast pace and high-pressure nature of the events we cater, our On-site Catering Lead's must have previous experience in the hospitality and/or F&B industry, as well as prior management experience. Those passionate about the industry will find immense pride and satisfaction in the successful execution of an event. This is the perfect role for those looking to gain more experience in the field and is a great stepping stone into event planning, catering sales, bar management, and a wide range of other food/bev careers.
Responsibilities
Include but not limited to…
- Check in rentals at the event site and ensure the venue is set up in accordance with layout and BEO details
- Lead a team lineup prior to the start of service to review timelines, uniform checks, delegate tasks, and distribute any other necessary information to the event servers
- Communicate any event updates/changes with our onsite kitchen staff, servers, and any other relevant personnel
- Ensure that food and service reflect Rosemary & Rye's high-quality standards and that all onsite staff members are representing the company appropriately
- Address and resolve any questions or complaints with quick and decisive action. Escalating issues through the proper channels as needed
- Breakdown catering area and check out with venue management at the end of the night
- Debrief the management team on the event via a post-event write-up via Google forms
Qualifications
- BS degree in Hospitality or Culinary degree (preferred)
- Work experience in the food & beverage industry AND prior management experience
- Experience with event planning (is a plus)
- Availability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Acute attention to detail and quality
- Ability to adhere to rigid timelines, yet flexible enough to adjust when needed
- Quick and decisive problem-solver with strong critical thinking skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service even during high-stress situations
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift items up to 30 pounds individually
- Must be able to lift and carry loaded trays/ovals
- Ability to stand for the entirety of the shift while reaching, bending, and stooping as needed
Compensation
The On-site Catering Lead is a part-time, hourly position, based on business demands. Compensation is dependent upon experience level and starts at $25.00 per hour.
