Job Overview:
As a Prep/Event Chef at Rosemary & Rye, you will be a vital part of our culinary team, assisting in both preparation and on-site event service. We are looking for a skilled chef who excels in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for delivering high-quality food and exceptional service.
Responsibilities:
Includes, but not limited too:
- Assist the head chef with food preparation, including chopping vegetables and washing ingredients.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment and appliances are prepped and ready for use.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment throughout the event.
- Prepare and store food ingredients according to menu requirements.
- Load and unload food and event service items at the catering shop and event site.
- Organize and manage the onsite kitchen setup.
- Cook, assemble, and plate food onsite, ensuring adherence to a precise service timeline.
- Manage carving and chef-attended stations, replenishing and clearing food stations as needed.
- Follow food safety protocols, including monitoring temperatures and wearing clean gloves.
- Dispose of trash and clean the venue kitchen according to venue standards.
- Provide friendly and professional service to guests and vendors.
- Assist with additional tasks as requested by a manager.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a prep chef in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- Good understanding of ingredients, recipes, kitchen safety, and hygiene.
- Passionate about culinary arts and creative cooking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiar with general kitchen equipment and appliances.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work well under pressure.
- Physically able to stand and move around for long periods.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
