What are the responsibilities and job description for the Unit Secretary position at Rosemill Hammond?
JOB TITLE: Unit Secretary
REPORTS TO: DON/Administrator
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
JOB OVERVIEW: Assists nursing and admissions to ensure the nursing unit, and the patients we serve, have the necessary tools to accomplish the best care possible. Operates reception desk area as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
a. Makes daily inventory of nourishment room supplies, orders replacements in time to avoid shortages.
b. Orders all rental equipment and returns all discharged equipment. Tracks in a log and reports monthly to Administration.
c. Manage patient supplies to facilitate ordering.
d. Keeps a supply of 5 charts at all times for potential admissions. e. Makes daily inspections of patient rooms, assuring cleanliness of occupies rooms, and readiness of vacant rooms. Reports any deficiencies to Charge Nurse immediately.
f. Scan and ,upload patient information in Erahab System. Assists with preparing face sheets and labels for charts.
g. Transportation of discharged patients to discharge destination
h. Transportation of new patient from sending destinations to UMR
i. Calls Medical Records for old charts on past patients.
j. 1Disassembles & forwards to Medical Records Department medical records of discharged patients within 24 hours of discharge.
k. Prior to discharge, collects discharge information, including face sheet, lab and other charges, discharge destination, and sends to Billing.
l. Verifies daily there are sufficient supplies of forms for nursing staff. Replenishes low supplies.
m. Files loose documentation in appropriate chart before end of each shift.
n. Assists in answering the telephone and taking accurate messages.
o. Material Management, equipment and medical supplies orders and inventory
p. Maintains a good working relationship within the department and other departments.
q. Maintains hospital requirements, policies and standards on confidentiality.
r. Skills Checklists/Competencies submitted timely
s. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
t. All other duties as assigned.
