POSITION SUMMARY
Detailer thoroughly cleans interior and exterior of each truck. They prepare trucks for vacuuming, washing, and other cleaning duties. They will inspect the paint for necessary touch ups and/or buffing. Also, a detailer will review checklists to ensure all tasks are completed on time.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
All employees are required to support Rosenbauer's Mission, Vision, and Values. The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.
- Performed at the expected level as an incumbent of the Detailer 1 position for a minimum of 30 days and can function as a Detailer 1 when needed.
- Reviews specifications of builds to generate loose equipment pull sheets.
- Makes modifications as needed to ensure that equipment is compatible with fire truck.
- Coordinate with the parts department to order equipment as needed.
- Complete all necessary sanding, buffing, and touch up painting.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by the supervisor to meet the needs of the department.

- 6 months experience in detailing

- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and precisely.
- Communicate progress of project to the appropriate Supervisor or Shift Lead.
- Locate work orders and process them within the time allotment according to the work order, production schedule, and department objectives.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment.
- Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within one’s production process and make the needed adjustments.
- Understand the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s, including the ability to perform these operations using units of American money.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Computer Skills:
- Ability to learn how to run a computer terminal or PC.
- No prior experience required (Incumbent will look up and/or enter information into a pre-formatted screen).
Decision Making:
- Responsibilities are frequently guided and reviewed by a supervisor.
- They follow a standard set of instructions that describe the proper procedures for handling problems that may occur.
- Supervisor or other personnel would handle any problems not covered by these instructions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. The building is heated, so it is usually never cold. However, there is no A/C, so it can become hot during the summer, which can cause humidity. Since this department must wash the trucks, the floor can be wet at times. There is also consistent noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop which will cause a difficulty of hearing. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. Sometimes this position requires to be above floor level and work in confined spaces.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
In this position, you are sometimes required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; stand; and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl when helping around the shop. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. Also, this position may involve confined spaces and heights when helping with issues.
