YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:
This role is owner-facing, project management-facing and field-facing. This role carries responsibility for management-level issue expediting, field technical support, startup technical support and commissioning technical oversight. This individual is intended to be the Project Manager's technical representative as well as a technical resource for the QC Managers and Site Superintendents.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Act to streamline communication between the Owner, Rosendin field Quality Assurance & Commissioning (QA/Cx) Site Manager(s), Rosendin General Foemen, Rosendin Project Management and all other parties including but not limited to Rosendin Senior Management, commissioning agents, third party testing agents, technical consultants/sub-consultants and vendors.The purpose of the associated communications is to be able to address engineer-level technical issues as they arise and to help all parties to understand the issues as well as to shepherd the best plan to resolve them.Engineer-level technical issues would include but not be limited to system LV or MV protection, controls, automation and/or power quality.
Authorized to act on behalf of Project Management in communicating and providing direction to Rosendin vendors in order to address any technical issues related to protection, control, automation and/or power quality.
Authorized to act on behalf of Project Management in communicating and providing direction (typically re-prioritization) to Rosendin Site Superintendent in order to address any technical issues that are not in compliance with the project requirementsThis includes issues associated with the installation of automated switchgear, control systems, EPMS/BMS systems, large LV or MV generators, digital relaying, UPS systems, battery systems and battery monitoring systems.
Assist with coordination of, and technical oversight of, testing and start-up activities related to preparation of the integrated systems and/or intelligent systems and/or automated systems associated with the project.
Assist in creating site specific equipment startup documentation; MOP's, SBS's, etc.
Support Project and Field Management with task scheduling to meet project milestones.
Ensure that only approved equipment is ordered and installed based on the project technical documents including but not limited to drawings, specifications, BOD, contract technical requirements and applicable codes/standards.
Monitor and/or assist on site walks with the AHJ/GC/Owner, as appropriate, in order to address specific items of a technical or Code related.
Attend factory testing of technically complex and/or high-dollar equipment.May involve preparing checklists or procedures for factory tests.Will also involve documentation of factory testing completed including photos and a detailed report following the testing.
Communicate and provide program feedback and project lessons learned to the Owner, PM, Rosendin Senior Management, Rosendin Site Superintendent, QA/Cx Regional Manager and trusted key vendors regarding more advanced technical issues encountered during the design and/or build phases of the work.Such issues would include but not be limited to system protection, control, monitoring, automation and/or power quality issues, or which are related to switchboards/switchgear, engine-generators, control/automation systems, UPS/battery systems, battery monitoring systems, EPMS/BMS systems etc.
Be involved in weekly project meetings to report and/or respond to technical issues with regard to system protection, control, monitoring, automation and/or power quality issues, or which are related to switchboards/switchgear, engine-generators, control/automation systems, UPS/battery systems, battery monitoring systems, EPMS/BMS systems etc.
Be involved with design review as it pertains to technical issues of system protection, control, monitoring, automation and/or power quality issues, or which are related to switchboards/switchgear, engine-generators, control/automation systems, UPS/battery systems, battery monitoring systems, EPMS/BMS systems etc.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Understanding of electrical power systems including generators, transformers, motors, automated switch gear, protective relays, UPS systems, DRUPS systems, motor-generator sets, battery storage systems, inverters, PV systems, wind turbines, substation equipment etc
Experience with digital relays including uploading and downloading relay setup files and event records, as well as how they are wired and implemented into switch gear and/or substations.
Extensive knowledge of electrical construction including techniques/means and methods, quality control, testing, startups, lock out tag out, electrical safety, and working with union crews
Strong familiarity with the NEC and technical Codes
Familiarity with and understanding of construction scheduling
Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position
Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others
WHAT YOU BRING TO US:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and minimum of 5 years of field engineering experience in electrical power systems
Minimum of 10 years of field engineering experience
TRAVEL:
Up to 100%
WORKING CONDITIONS:
General work environment - sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning
Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.
