Rosie's Place was founded in 1974 as the first women's shelter in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to help poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunities, and find security in their lives.
Over the years, we have become much more than a shelter. We are a multi-service community center that not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for thousands of women a year through wide-ranging support, housing, and education services. Rosie's Place relies on the generous support of individuals, foundations, and corporations and does not accept any city, state or federal funding.
OPPORTUNITY
Rosie's Place is looking for a Front Office Advocate to join our Front Office team. Reporting to the Front Office Manager, the Front Office Advocate provides a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for guests and visitors entering Rosie's Place and to act as an effective, respectful liaison for guests seeking to access services.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide reliable, dependable, punctual coverage of the Rosie's Place front office via the front desk.
- Answer doors. Greet guests and visitors at the main entrance and create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
- Handle all incoming telephone calls. Transfer calls to staff and take phone messages for guests.
- Handle all incoming mail and packages. Sort and file guest mail every day and make sure packages go to where they belong.
- Oversee the use of guest telephone, computer, laundry, and showers.
- Copy, fax and send out mail to guests.
- Maintain all front desk printed material and bulletin boards.
- Assist donors with incoming donations.
- Manage the guest daily services calendar / schedule. Keep track of all daily services.
- Stock hygiene cabinet with toiletries, towels, laundry soap, undergarments, and socks.
- Wash towels for guest showers.
- Consistently monitor all guest areas and resolve conflicts in a respectful manner to maintain a peaceful environment.
- Respond to all guest emergencies in an efficient and safe manner and follow all emergency protocols.
- Write in the log every day and consistently communicate with staff through email.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Front Office Manager
Requirements
HOURS
Saturday and Sunday, 9am - 5 : 00pm
WHAT WE OFFER
The starting pay rate for this part-time (15 hour) non-exempt position is $25 per hour.
Per Rosie's Place Shift Differential Policy, hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays are compensated at an additional $2 per hour.
WORK EXPECTATIONS
We are a hands-on team and seek employees who are passionate about our work and service to our community. The Front Office Advocate is expected to work onsite at Rosie's Place during their work week and engage regularly with staff, guests, and volunteers. We continue to adapt to safety protocols related to COVID-19 as we understand them, and all employees must follow our safety protocols. Among these protocols, we require all employees to be up to date with their COVID and Flu vaccinations. Requests for medical or religious exemptions from the COVID vaccination are considered.
