The Safety Intern will support the People Safety team in ensuring a safe work environment by assisting with safety programs, compliance initiatives, training, and audits. This hands-on role provides valuable experience in workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation within a fast-paced food manufacturing setting.

Essential Functions
- Assist in conducting safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA, company policies, and industry regulations.
- Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Help maintain and update safety documentation, including training records, SDS sheets, and compliance reports.
- Participate in the development and delivery of safety training for employees on topics such as LOTO, personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard communication, and emergency response procedures.
- Assist in ergonomic assessments and recommend improvements to enhance workplace safety.
- Support the implementation of safety initiatives such as behavior-based safety programs and employee engagement activities.
- Monitor and track key safety metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Help coordinate emergency response plans and safety drills.
- Stay up to date on regulatory requirements and best practices in occupational safety.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Knowledge of occupational safety regulations and standards, particularly those relevant to the food manufacturing industry such as OSHA, FDA, and USDA.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with employees at all levels.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with safety management software is a plus.
- Hands-on exposure to real-world safety challenges in a manufacturing environment.
