Job Description:
As a Parts Counterman, your primary responsibility will be to engage with customers—both over the phone and in person—assisting them in identifying, recommending, and selling parts for Blue Bird School Buses. You will serve as the face of our parts department, ensuring customers receive the best parts and service to keep their fleets running smoothly. While your main focus will be sales, you will also be involved in providing guidance on parts selection, pricing, and availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with customers to understand their parts needs and provide timely and accurate recommendations for Blue Bird School Bus parts.
- Drive sales by promoting products, answering inquiries, and effectively upselling related parts and accessories.
- Provide knowledgeable and friendly assistance to both internal and external customers, ensuring they receive the best solutions for their bus maintenance and repair needs.
- Process sales orders accurately and promptly, ensuring all customer information and order details are correctly entered into the system.
- Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction with parts purchased and assist with any issues or additional needs.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of Blue Bird parts and their compatibility with various bus models.
- Identify opportunities to increase parts sales through customer relationships and proactive outreach.
- Work closely with the service department to ensure timely and accurate parts deliveries for repair work.
- Handle phone inquiries, take orders, and provide price quotes in a professional manner.
- Support promotional efforts to boost parts sales and build long-term customer relationships.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in automotive or school bus parts sales is highly preferred.
- A strong understanding of Blue Bird school bus parts or similar vehicle parts is a plus.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and close sales.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex parts concepts clearly.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet sales goals while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Self-motivated and results-driven, with a proactive attitude toward upselling and maximizing sales opportunities.
- Familiarity with using computer systems and sales software (experience with parts management or ordering systems a plus).
- Ability to lift and carry parts, occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- A valid driver’s license is required
