Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions
- Performs preventative maintenance at scheduled intervals on trucks, trailers, heavy equipment and specialized equipment.
- Specializes in repairing and maintaining brakes.
- Dismounts and mounts tires.
- Washes trucks, trailers and equipment.
- Picks up and delivers parts.
- Keeps garage clean, sweeps floors, removes trash and performs other housekeeping chores as directed.
- Comment and bill inventory through our computer-based maintenance software.
- Maintains a working knowledge of basic operation on all truck-related components, including but not limited to: electrical system, heavy duty air system, air/hydraulic brakes, suspension systems, driveline components, and hydraulic systems.
- Participates in required skills training.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Second shift hours from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- High School Diploma or GED and Technical school training beyond high school level in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment maintenance is required.
- Fabrication skills are a plus but willing to train.
- Must be fluent in English with the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and handling instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must have own tools and provide own tool storage onsite.
- Must be able to use a computer to maintain sufficient documentation of work-related activities.
- Must have ability to safely work under and on-top of large equipment on a regular basis.
- Must have ability to safely lift and move heavy parts, components and maintenance equipment on regular basis.
- Available for call in on a rotation with other employees.
- Flexible schedule available and willing to work overtime and weekends if needed.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and effectively communicate and present information and respond to questions.
- Must be able to work 8 to 10 hour shifts on a regular basis.
- Must be available to work additional hours as required, including weekends.
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s license. CDL is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Must be knowledgeable in computer diagnostics.
- Experience in outdoor work is a plus. Job requires ability to work outside in all seasons and weather.
- Must be able to wear and work in tyvek suit and respirator when job duties require.
- Must have ability to meet physical demands required to successfully and safely perform the essential functions and qualifications of the job.
