Receiving Foreman

Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions

• Ensures the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the Receiving process areas (CSF, Process Dock, Tank Farms). This includes daily rounds through the process areas looking for compliance violations and correcting them and ensuring a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness.
• Ensures all staff is adequately trained to follow procedures and handle waste materials in a safe, compliant and efficient manner.
• Manages the day-to-day production responsibilities of the various Receiving operations.
• Makes recommendations for improvements and means of reducing inefficiencies in work flows and procedures.
• Ensures the incinerator has an adequate supply of containerized waste, high/low BTU wastes, and direct feed tankers for all shifts.
• Supervises the unloading, sampling/inspection, labeling, movement, storage and loading (for production) of all waste receipts in vans and tankers.
• Works with the QA/QC function on receipts of wastes and ensures the receiving paperwork, waste quantities and container types are accurate.
• Performs the QA/QC activities on waste receipts necessary to comply with the RIS Waste Analysis Plan (WAP). These activities include sampling and visual inspections per procedure.
• Ensures that all containerized receipts (drums and roll-offs) and tankers are properly labeled and scanned (via the waste tracking system) per procedure.
• Reviews scheduled loads with the Production Planning function to ensure waste receipt off-load plans are understood and executed.
• Coordinates the identification, handling/removal, and reporting of solid heels discovered in tanker receipts.
• Performs dock processing of liquids in containerized wastes (pumping to tank farm storage tanks or direct feed tankers).
• Responsible for off-loading bypass and alternative bypass fuels for incineration use.
• Actively participates in all plant shutdown work plans and schedules staff support accordingly.
• Completes all required paperwork (i.e., daily compliance/safety inspections, daily equipment inspections, daily waste inventory reports, daily shift production reports, etc.).
• Works closely with the Incineration Shift Foremen to ensure quality execution of the daily production plans.
• Coordinates movement of equipment (flatbeds, trailers, tankers, roll-offs) per Receiving Management, Production Planning, Production Support, Incineration and RTS direction.
• Coordinates the CSF physical inventory of containerized wastes.
• Ensures that all performance reviews occur on a timely basis for all associates and within established guidelines.
• Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed and in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Enters confined spaces as required and in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Climbs stairs and scaffoldings as required.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects.
• Physically able to lead and participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
• Understands both RIS’ ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and assists with executing their objectives.
• Performs other job-related duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED. Advanced education/degree is a plus.
• Two or more years’ experience working at RIS in any of the operating departments as an Assistant Forman. Equivalent supervisory experience will be considered.
• Must have demonstrated organization and leadership skills.
• Must be technically and mechanically oriented.
• Must have thorough knowledge of RCRA regulations, the Part B Permit, and safety and operating procedures.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with associates at all levels within the organization.
• Must be willing to work additional hours or off-hours as required to meet business objectives.
• Must be able to resolve conflicts to meet business objectives.
• Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office/Windows XP).
• Work is performed indoors, as well as outdoors, in a plant environment.
• Physical activities of this position require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, working at heights, working in confined spaces, wearing a respirator and wearing protective clothing (PPE).
