Ross and Matthews, PC is looking to hire a Legal Assistant for the Wills Dept.
Essential Job Duties
- Observe rules of governing privileged communications and confidential information.
- Gathers information from attorney and member in order to accurately complete Wills and Powers of Attorney.
- Types and formats Wills and Powers of Attorney, proofreads work for spelling, grammar and layout, making appropriate changes. Responsible for accuracy and clarity of final copy.
- Answer incoming calls and answer member questions regarding Wills and Powers of Attorney, escalating as necessary.
- Works independently and within a team to coordinate division of workload.
- Maintain accurate departmental files, both hard copy and electronic, to ensure ease of location and appropriate retention.
- Maintain information for departmental reports.
- Performs basic office functions, such as answering, screening and directing phone calls; managing mail; and printing or copying documents.
- Adhere to firm standards of courtesy and professionalism, as well as LegalShield service standard requirements.
Secondary Job Duties
- Wills Clerk back up when required.
- Special projects as needed.
- Other tasks/projects as assigned by supervisor.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. (Required)
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of office experience. Legal experience preferred.
- Accurate and proficient typing skills (50 wpm).
- Positive/upbeat and helpful temperament.
- Customer service skills/focus with demonstrated composure, ownership & professionalism.
- Analytical skills with the ability to provide appropriate information.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Analytical skills with the ability to provide appropriate information.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and with good grammar (both verbal & written).
- Self-motivated (requiring minimal supervision) with strong multi-tasking, prioritization and organization skills.
- Ability to learn and apply new information in a fast paced, changing environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work within policies/procedures to meet/exceed deadlines.
- Intermediate skill set in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with other office equipment such as scanners and fax machines.

Work Location: Hybrid. In-office presence is required. After 30 days of continuous employment, you will be eligible to earn remote workdays, based on performance and company policies. Must live in North Texas.
