Position Summary
The Educator works under the direction of the Education and Conservation Program Manager and is responsible for facilitating education programs on- and off-site. This position focuses on providing inspiring educational programming that builds empathy and gives participants the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to advocate effectively for wildlife and wild places.

The Educator will typically work 25 hours per week, including at least one weekend day. The Educator’s schedule will vary seasonally based on the department's needs. Part-time Educators will work year-round, while individuals hired as Seasonal Educators are employed from mid-June through the end of August.

Essential Duties

  • Deliver a conservation-based curriculum as approved by the Education and Conservation Program Manager, which is science-based, interactive, accommodating of varied learning styles, and tailored to the needs of participants.
  • Facilitate and lead activities for onsite programs such as guided tours, Wild Science, animal spotlights, summer camps, and conservation weekends.
  • Facilitate and lead activities for offsite programs, including Zoo Mobiles.
  • Create a fun and safe learning environment for program attendees
  • Support Docents, interns, and other volunteers in facilitating activities
  • Keep the program storage spaces clean, organized, and stocked for the program's needs
  • Ensure the Education Center is clean and free of hazards and submit work orders as needed to the Facilities Department

  • Assist with special events and other tasks as needed

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 35 per week
