Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting our medical staff and ensuring a smooth operation within our clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of patient care, administrative tasks, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for both clinical and administrative duties, contributing to the overall patient experience.
Objectives of this role
- Cultivate a safe, secure, and healthy environment for patients and colleagues, and enhance the quality of service and care provided.
- Understand the provider-to-patient flow to better assist physicians and nurses in maintaining an efficient, productive office.
- Develop and maintain relationships of confidence and trust with patients.
- Help answer patient questions and address their concerns before, during, and after examination.
- Update and maintain electronic patient medical records accurately and securely.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, sanitary office and prepare examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments prior to each appointment.
- Accompany patients to examination or treatment room, measure vital signs, update information and changes in medical history, and prepare them for examination or treatment.
- Maintain patient records for clinical use, billing, and physician review, and assist in the transition from hard copy to digital.
- Keep medical supplies well stocked, placing orders when necessary.
- Assists with bedside procedures such as lacerations, abscesses, lesion biopsies and removal.
- Cast and brace applications.
- Draw blood samples safely and sends them to the laboratory without contamination.
- Collect urine, stool, and sputum samples for testing.
- Develop and maintain accurate databases for scheduling appointments, communicating with patients, managing knowledge, mitigating error, and supporting decision-making.
- Contribute to process improvements by taking an active role in patient experiences and satisfaction.
Preferred skills
- Proficient in taking vital signs and understanding emergency medicine protocols.
- Familiarity with medical administrative support tasks, including appointment scheduling and record management.
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication skills to foster positive interactions with patients and healthcare teams.
- A commitment to providing high-quality patient service, ensuring comfort and care throughout their visit.
On site training available for the right candidate if all qualifications above are not met.
