What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tooling Engineer position at Rosti Group?
We are seeking a motivated Tooling Engineer to spearhead the development and launch of new injection molded parts and assemblies. This role involves specifying, quoting, and managing tooling for injection molds and related equipment. Your expertise in injection mold tooling, plastic part design, CAD, machining, polymer materials, project quoting, and project management will be key to your success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with mold build vendors to design injection molding tools.
- Partner with customers to design and optimize plastic parts.
- Oversee tooling projects from conception to production start-up.
- Evaluate part designs for manufacturability using Mold Flow Analysis to assess mold filling, cooling, and warpage.
- Modify customer part and assembly designs to meet injection molding process requirements.
- Design injection molded parts and assemblies following best practices in injection molding design.
- Coordinate with tooling suppliers on requests for quotations, schedules, and mold design reviews.
- Review product designs and recommend improvements for manufacturability, efficiency, and cost savings.
- Lead mold design reviews to ensure compliance with Rosti and customer requirements.
- Manage documentation for all forms of tooling.
- Monitor the construction of injection molds.
- Ensure tooling suppliers meet service expectations.
- Track project schedules with tooling suppliers to ensure timely completion according to design requirements.
- Implement tooling modifications and improvements.
- Lead FMEA projects to prevent downstream failures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field, preferably manufacturing or mechanical engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the injection molding field, with a focus on tooling
- Experience in injection molding processing and CNC machining is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with IQMS or other ERP systems is a plus, but not required
