Job Summary / Objective
The paint detail technician receives and inspects painted parts for surface imperfections and buffs and
polishes parts using cloth or buffing and polishing equipment.
Essential Job Functions and Duties

  • Receives and inspects painted parts for surface imperfection

  • Removes paint defects present from paint application including but not limited to debris, runs, orange peel.

  • Buffs and polishes parts using cloth or buffing and polishing equipment

  • Perform paint repairs

  • Read and understand TDS and MSDS.

  • Effectively communicate issues and advise potential solutions to Lead.

  • Document and record KPI into spreadsheets.

  • Works under direct supervision on duties and tasks that are standardized, selecting from written instructions, and established procedures.

  • Train junior staff members.

  • Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in proper working order.

  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.

  • Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.

  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect paint department operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, etc.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Effective Communication Skills - Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • General knowledge of spreadsheets.

  • Demonstrates Integrity.

  • Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude toward company, management and team members..

  • High attention to detail


Required Education and Experience


  • Paint detail experience in manufacturing with automotive, aerospace or marine industry preferred (ideally 6 - 10 years)


Work Schedule / Additional Eligibility Requirements


  • Normal business hours are Monday - Friday, 8AM – 4:30PM

  • This position schedule is 6AM - 4:30 PM Monday - Thursday

  • Additional overtime is required depending on manufacturing needs

  • Post Offer Background check and drug screening may be required

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand on concrete for the duration of the shift.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop.

  • Must be able to grip and operate hand tools with a minimum of 50 in/lbs. of force

  • Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. for at least 15 feet.

  • Safety Glasses must be worn at all times when in certain production areas.

  • Safety shoes must be worn at all times when in the production areas.
