RMS Inc. is looking for a Safety Coordinator to join our team.
THE ROLE
The Safety Coordinator promotes and ensures a safe working environment within our repair shops. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining safety protocols, conducting regular safety inspections, training, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations.

PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety Inspections and Audits:
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of machine shops and repair shops.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain records of safety inspections and audit findings.
- Safety Training and Education:
- Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions for all shop employees.
- Ensure all employees are informed about safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Update training materials as needed to reflect current safety standards and regulations.
- Incident Reporting and Investigation:
- Lead investigations into any workplace incidents or accidents.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures.
- Follow up on the implementation of corrective actions.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Maintain and update safety documentation, including safety data sheets (SDS), safety policies, and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation for safety audits by external parties.
- Safety Equipment and Supplies:
- Ensure availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Regularly check and maintain safety equipment and supplies.
- Coordinate the purchase of new safety equipment as needed.
- Emergency Response Planning:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
- Coordinate regular emergency drills and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Ensure all employees are aware of emergency exits and procedures.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Actively participate in safety committees and meetings.
- Suggest and implement safety improvements and best practices.
- Stay updated on industry safety trends and incorporate them into RMS safety practices.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and balance multiple responsibilities.
- Previous experience in a safety role or similar environment is preferred.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Associates Degree or relevant experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Travel time is expected to be 0-10%.
- Capability to respond to emergencies and lead safety initiatives.
- This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on project needs.
- This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.
- Ability to act professionally under stressful situations.
- Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English proficiently.
- Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs., 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Ability to walk, climb, reach above head, and balance.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- RMS Inc. may have government contracts that impose specific requirements on employees working on those projects. If an employee does not meet these requirements, they may be reassigned to a different location or be ineligible to work on certain assignments.
Physical Requirements:

- Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs., 50 lbs. with assistance.

Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee may work/enter a shop with exposure to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise.
