This is a remote/ rotational position, working two weeks on and two weeks off or three weeks on and three weeks off, in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.
Job Purpose:
While performing the duties of an Electrical Journeyman, under the supervision of the Fire & Gas Integrity Foreman, the Electrical Technician Level 4 provides day-to-day task and performance direction to the work crew.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation and construction of industrial electrical equipment and systems through the proper use of standard wire, conduit, fittings and hardware commonly found in petrochemical facilities.
- Bend, cut, thread and install conduit.
- Install and terminate wiring.
- Check and troubleshoot electric circuits, electrical devices and machinery.
- Use and care of tools and equipment such as hydraulic/electric bender, knock-out punch set, cable puller, megger, high-pot equipment, volt meters, multi-tester and ammeters.
- Test, troubleshoot, set and calibrate power distribution systems working with protective relaying and motor control circuits.
- Routinely perform safety and productivity observations as well as shop, field and vehicle inspections.
- Attend various technical, developmental and safety training.
- Demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate support for the company’s environmental management system.
- Serve as on-site single point of contact for work crew.
- Supervise and/or direct other craftsmen.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and performance feedback to crew members.
- Ensure all team members understand and follow procedures and assess skill level of team members; assist in skill development.
- Examine work and materials for compliance with specifications.
- Accountable for safe work practices.
- May be responsible for recording and reporting daily labor hours to timekeeper.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Ability to set and coordinate overcurrent protective devices, size feeder circuits.
- Ability to work on systems up to and including 13.8 KV.
- Possess working knowledge of the National Electric Code.
- Understand electrical circuits including the operation and function of typical electrical devices and machinery such as solenoids, relays, motors, transformers, switches, motor control centers, generators, batteries and lighting systems.
- Experience working in Class One, Division I & II areas.
- Understand Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
- Able to work as part of a team; communicate effectively with fellow workers and alternate.
- Sound knowledge of operations and safety practices and policies.
- Ability to lead a work crew to accomplish goals and objectives established by management.
- Advanced leadership skills.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Ability to do electrical work on both projects and maintenance.
- Ability to work at facilities independently without direction or supervision.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:
· Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.
· Standing for prolonged periods of time.
· Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather
· Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.
· Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.
· Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.
· Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.
· Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.
· Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.
· Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

External Qualifications:
- Five (5) years’ experience in petrochemical or industrial electrical experience.
- Valid Driver’s license and the ability to be covered by WORLEY's auto insurer.
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- Possess Alaska State Fitness Certificate as a Journeyman Electrician or the ability to obtain prior to start date.
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six (6) years’ experience as an electrician, including three (3) years in industrial electrical work or in relevant field.
- North Slope experience with demonstrated knowledge of facilities, safety processes and maintenance procedures.
- Experience with UPS systems troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Experience with battery systems maintenance, PMs and change outs.
