JOB SUMMARY:
This position will assist in patient care throughout the nursing areas and is responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Nursing Assistant certification - Preferred
- Minimum of two years' patient care experience
- Basic Cardiac Life Support - Required
- CPR certification from American Heart Association (AHA) - Required
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up room for post op patients.
- Deliver patient's belongings to patient rooms.
- Orient patient to room and call lights.
- Frequent vital signs.
- Teach bedside exercises.
- Educate about diet-chart nutritional monitoring on all meals
- Assist with tray delivery as needed.
- Ambulate patients.
- Linen/Supplies (Stock)
- Change dressings as indicated per policy and procedure.
- Transport patient to vehicle on discharge
- Bladder scan as indicated per protocol.
- Reports patient's status and needs to RN.
- Answer call lights and attends to/reports patient needs.
- Obtains urine/stool/sputum specimens.
- Transfers, moves and repositions patients.
- Makes occupied and unoccupied beds.
- Maintains current knowledge and certification requirements.
- Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities
