Human Resource Generalist, Employee Relations

Opportunity
This role is responsible for upholding the standards and values of Rough Country. This role will drive the execution of human resource initiatives that enable the organization to meet its Employer of Choice and Engagement, and Retention objectives. This will be accomplished by working with associates and leadership to understand and resolve workplace concerns, facilitating confidential and timely investigations, and elevating employee engagement.
Specific Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic partner to business leaders by linking people and culture initiatives to business goals, including support and guidance with team members.
- Be hands-on in the recruitment process, including job description management, application filtering, and interviewing
- Establish and maintain trusted working relationships with functional leaders and all Rough Country Associates
- Supports US locations, Dyersburg, TN, Newbern, Reno, Nevada, and Washington State with employee relations
- Partners with the Senior Leadership team on investigating ethics complaints and Code of Conduct violations.
- Captures data, trends, and themes from ongoing HR work; provides regular insights and recommendations to HR leadership.
- Utilizes engagement surveys, stay/exit interviews, and turnover/absenteeism data to advise leadership on culture, work environment, policies, and other associate impacts that may require adjustments or changes.
- Drives engagement strategy, partnering closely with leadership to tailor plans according to functional/area needs/opportunities.
- Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS systems; generate reports and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making in employee relations and retention.
- Oversee onboarding processes to ensure consistent, compliant, and engaging new hire experiences across locations.
- Support or facilitate training programs related to workplace conduct, conflict resolution, policy awareness, and performance management best practices.
- Develop, review, and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and alignment with organizational culture and legal requirements.
- Lead and support performance management processes, including coaching, corrective action, and documentation of policy non-compliance.
Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources or Employee Relations, preferably within a Manufacturing environment
- SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or other advanced certification is desirable.
- Extensive knowledge and practical application of Federal, State, and local laws with a solid understanding of the general body of laws surrounding Human Resources.
- Consistently display the highest degree of integrity, professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Extensive knowledge of labor and employment law, and the ability to partner at all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to develop strong, trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results.
- Must be able to prioritize a variety of time-sensitive tasks.
- Proactive with excellent planning, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
