Position: Houseman
Department: Facilities Maintenance
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Supervises: Supervisory duties are not included in this position
Job Summary
The Houseman is responsible for all phase of cleaning in and around the Clubhouse. The Houseman also moves furniture and fixtures and prepares various areas for private parties and special events.
Essential Job Tasks
- Dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures, stocks bridge tables and supplies, straightens curtains, disinfects telephones, properly aligns tables, chairs and other pieces of furniture.
- Handles recycling materials according to Club policy.
- Empties garbage and wastebaskets
- Vacuums carpets and removes spots as necessary.
- Shampoos carpets as requested.
- Sweeps and mops floors, cleans walls, window sills, light fixtures and baseboards.
- Sweeps, shovels and clears entrance/exit spaces daily.
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms, dorm rooms and locker areas, toilets, sinks, tiles, mirrors and light bulbs.
- Refills paper towel, tissue, toilet paper, toilet seat covers and hand soap in all dispensers.
- Stocks all supplies and notifies supervisor of any shortages or problems.
- Cleans windows inside and out.
- Maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, furniture repair and painting.
- Cleans and organizes Furniture storage rooms and common areas.
- Assists with inventory control and security.
- Moves furniture in and out of spaces and prepares rooms for special events as requested.
- Follows work orders and completes assignments with a minimum of supervision.
- Observes, records, and reports unsafe working conditions, maintenance needs, rodent or insect infestation and other conditions needing attention.
- Follows directives and completes assignments with a minimum of supervision.
- Attends and actively participates in staff meetings.
- Assists in maintaining clean and well-organized work areas.
- Adheres to all Club policies including the work/break schedule, electronic device and uniform policies.
- Performs all work according to established procedures, with particular emphasis on safety.
- Avails him/herself, to the best of his/her abilities, to directly assist in the furtherance of member satisfaction. Always maintains a friendly, hospitable and helpful attitude with all members, guests and fellow employees.

Education:
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently. Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
Experience:
- At least one year of work experience in the housekeeping/custodial field is desirable.
- Knowledge of how to maintain, clean and preserve a wide variety of building, furniture, fixtures and equipment surfaces.
- Needs to follow safety protocol at the work place. Such as using safety signage when floors are wet, safe storage of cleaning chemicals and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) applicable.
Physical:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Frequent bending, squatting, lifting and turning required.
- Frequent lifting of heavy objects.
- Average to above average strength is required to perform the role of this job function.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
