Head Coach - Boys Volleyball

Stipend:
Per Contract - Appendix B Group 1
Coaches and Assistant Coaches with 1-4 years of RLAS district coaching experience shall be paid at 80% of the full-rate.

Days/Work Hours:
Subject to practice and game schedules
Season runs 03/10/2025 - 06/14/2025

Reports To:
This job assignment receives administrative direction from the High School Principal, Assistant Principal (Director of Athletics) or other administrator as assigned.

Summary of Assignment:
This job assignment is accountable for instructing student athletes in a specific sports activity and providing leadership in helping each participating student achieve a high level of skill, and appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.

Minimum Education and Experience:
1. Valid Illinois Driver's License;
2. Successful completion of a Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance;
3. Successful completion of Bloodborne Pathogens Training/Hepatitis B Shots Series Training;
4. Current teacher certification or substitute certification in the State of Illinois, or complete the American Sports Education Program (ASEP) coaching certification set forth by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA);
5. May be required to obtain First Aid/CPR Certification.

Essential Functions:
The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the assignment and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties.
1. Assists the Athletic Director, when necessary, in scheduling contests and transportation where applicable;
2. Assumes primary responsibility for field or court preparation;
3. Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for successful performance;
4. Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students;
5. Ensures appropriate dress at practices and events;
6. Ensures practice and repetition of fundamentals;
7. Ensures proper care of equipment;
8. Ensures proper organization of practices and drills;
9. Ensures that all tasks are completed in a timely manner;
10. Follows all procedures and protocols set forth by the Round Lake High School Coaches Handbook;
11. Follows District procedures in establishing performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in assigned sport;
12. In consultation with Athletic Director, hires, trains, and evaluates all Assistant Coaches;
13. Maintains complete and accurate records as required (e.g. attendance forms, insurance records, files accident reports, etc.);
14. Maintains satisfactory attendance, as defined in District policy and regulations (GCBD/GDBD);
15. Manages athlete behavior during all athletic practices, competitions, and events;
16. Oversees the safety conditions of the facility/area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times, especially, when students are present;
17. Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season in accordance with District policy and IHSA regulations;
18. Provides a positive learning environment for the athletes;
19. Provides Athletic Director with end of year inventory and award information as requested;
20. Provides Athletic Director with team rosters as requested;
21. Provides Athletic Director with the evaluation of all assigned coaches as requested;
22. Provides information and reports to Athletic Director in a timely manner;
23. Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate;
24. Serves as head coach for one of the sports listed above;
25. Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities;
26. Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
Individuals appointed to these assignments must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the assignment.
