JOB SUMMARY:
This position facilitates learning, academic achievement and personal development by providing instruction to students. This position also develops and implements curriculum and lesson plans, utilizes technology to facilitate learning, and demonstrates understanding the varying learning styles and the needs of a diverse student population.

DAILY RATE: $255/day
LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Preferred: Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with the required endorsements in Science as provided in the School Code registered in Lake County.
Preferred: High School Experience.
Required: Illinois substitute license or Illinois teaching license

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position and is not intended to be an
exhaustive listing of all duties.
1. Addresses crisis problems and behavior management;
2. Advises, assists, and supervises students, as appropriate, with internships, volunteering and community service projects, securing training stations and employment including employment forms, and regarding various District, State and national competitions;
3. Assists students with the development of college/career goals;
4. Collaborates with administration, the PST, and students to assist in meeting student needs, including increase in credit acquisition, attendance issues and/or graduation requirements;
5. Collaborates with program assistants to guide and monitor student grades, progress and needs;
6. Composes a written mid-year and year-end report on the program outcomes as identified in the goals and objectives;
7. Coordinates and facilitates the Intake Parent Orientation Conference prior to the student’s enrollment in the program and quarterly throughout enrollment in the program.
8. Develops personalized learning plans for all assigned students;
9. Ensures program curricula aligns with High School curricula, District and State standards and Common Core;
10. Establishes classroom objectives and/or modifications, and provides documentation;
11. Evaluates student performance through examinations, homework assignments, and other methods, promoting student achievement, maintaining the required student records, and, submits required reports, including report cards, to the principal or other school administrators, assessing students’ academic, behavioral and vocational needs, determining student mastery of subjects, and facilitating District-wide testing of students;
12. Follows standard procedures for attendance and discipline established generally for the High School and/or specifically for this program;
13. Implements the goals, objectives and standards of the District, the school, and the program, following a prescribed course of study as delineated in curriculum outlines and authorized by the building principal, developing, adapting, and updating curriculum, and developing and implementing lesson plans;
14. Initiates frequent phone contact with parent (at least twice per quarter per student) and more frequently if the student has attendance, work completion or behavior issues;
15. Maintains contact and communications with parents of students, and works with them in the development of each student, scheduling and holding parent conferences, as well as conferences with county workers, as appropriate, recruiting students into classes and specialized programs, and enrolling students and maintaining classroom databases on students;
16. Manages students through use of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and other behavior management tools;
17. Monitors individual student progress weekly and update plans quarterly;
18. Observes, records, and charts academic and social emotional progress;
19. Oversees enrollment and completion of assigned program courses and provides guided instructional assistance as needed to students;
20. Participates in staff development and professional growth activities, as required and as requested, participating in appropriate in-service activities or educational opportunities to maintain current teacher certifications, and mentoring new teachers;
21. Performs classroom management duties, enforcing school rules governing the conduct of students, taking appropriate disciplinary action regarding students not adhering to school rules, ensuring the safety of students, and maintaining an appropriate classroom-learning environment, including displays;
22. Provides instruction in the core and age-appropriate curriculum, assessing initial knowledge or skills, making appropriate use of instructional resources and technologies, including computer technology, developing and implementing instructional activities for students, developing and coping instructional materials, and, orders instructional materials and supplies, collaborating with other teachers, staff resources, and volunteers regarding instructional and program activities; providing for remediation, when necessary, revising teaching methodology to accommodate students, maintaining instructional equipment, as appropriate; and team teaching, when appropriate;
23. Submits reports as required to parents and administrators on student’s attendance, participation, grades, and credit acquisition;
24. Using standardized system established for the program, verifies final grade for students who complete required coursework, process grades in appropriate system;
25. Utilizes the program information system to retrieve data for enrolled students and process per directions/request of administrator;
26. Works with audio-visual equipment, computers and/or assistive technology;
27. Performs other related work as required.
