What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Education Teacher position at Round Valley Unified Schools?

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will hold a valid State of Arizona teaching certificate and meet all certification requirements, including teaching area endorsement in the State of Arizona. They will demonstrate skills in performance of the Arizona Professional Teacher Standard.

Reports to:

Building Principal and/or assigned supervisor

Job Goal:

To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating district curriculum goals and objectives into learning experiences for each individual student.

Terms of Employment:

Salary and work year determined by the Board of Education

Responsibilities:

Instructional

A teacher's primary responsibility is to plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students within the district curriculum.

To use effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectives.
To have a weekly written lesson plan describing daily learning experiences, correlated with the aims and/or objectives in curriculum guide and/or course outline.
To monitor and assess student progress in order to offer feedback on a regular basis to students and their parents.
To diagnose, instruct, and evaluate specific student needs and seek help of district specialists as required.
To communicate objectives to students in a well-planned, organized way using clear and precise language.

Climate

A teacher creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

To assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing the development of proper student behavior.

To develop and implement reasonable classroom rules of behavior and procedure in a fair and just manner.

Student Relationships

To create educational experiences that provide each student the opportunity to develop his/her potential in the areas of Personal Social Adjustment, Decision Making, Positive Self Image, and other life skills.

Professional

A teacher promotes and follows adopted school district philosophy and policies and administrative procedures.

To communicate concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents, and community in a positive, professional, and ethical manner.

To assume legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities.

To strive to maintain and improve professional competence.

To assume individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal or supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision, or other planning and professional assignments.

To maintain accurate, complete, legible, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.

To take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Personal

A teacher conducts oneself in a business-like and/or task-oriented manner.

To be a good employee as well as an effective teacher
